SKU Code: W10/445-23CH This classic hand-wound, 24-jewel MWC military watch is inspired by the design patterns of the 1940s and 1950s, featuring a Swiss Sellita SW216 movement and a subsidiary dial second hand. While maintaining the appearance of the original watches used by the British military during that era, it offers modern enhancements such as 100m (330 ft) water resistance and a shatter- and scratch-resistant sapphire box crystal. Despite these improvements, the crystal retains the look of the original plexiglass without its drawbacks. The watch features a heavy stainless steel satin finish case made from Military Grade 316L stainless steel, a screw-down crown, a hacking function, and a black dial with luminous markings. It comes with a historically accurate canvas strap, reminiscent of the 1940s and 1950s. The final image showcases the original 12 watches produced by companies such as Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex. Although more expensive, sapphire crystals are typically found only in higher-specification watches.Swiss Sellita SW216 Movement Winding Guidelines: To fully wind the SW216 movement from an empty state, you'll need approximately 20 to 25 turns of the crown, which is fewer than most other hand-wound watches (which typically require 30 to 40 turns). Once fully wound, the watch offers an average power reserve of 42 hours. Be cautious during the winding process, as securing the locking crown adds an additional 3 to 4 winds. This feature is designed to enhance water resistance and is uncommon in most hand-wound watches of this type. For daily wearers, winding the watch every morning typically requires fewer turns—15-17 turns are usually sufficient for daily use. Most owners develop their optimal winding routine within the first few days of ownership. Avoid overwinding the watch, as this can damage the mainspring or cause it to lock up. Overwinding happens when the watch is wound beyond its mechanical limit, which poses a risk of damage. While this is primarily a concern for manually-wound watches, automatic watches are designed to prevent overwinding.
