More formally, these watches were known as A.T.P’s, Army Trade Pattern and bear the Pheon symbol which distinguished them as being issued by the British Army. It retains the acrylic crystal as used on the original watches although the original hand-winding mechanical movement is upgraded to a self-winding automatic which can also be manually wound if required. The watch offers the benefit of retaining the original outward appearance whilst having the advantage of a few discreet updates to improve its suitability for use on a day to day basis. This watch has a heavy stainless steel satin finish case made from Military Grade 316L stainless steel, subsidiary dial second hand, hacking function, cream dial and luminous markings. The watch also has a historically accurate canvas strap as used in the 1940s.For general interest the final 3 images show library photographs of the A.T.P and the original 12 W.W.W watches*The final image shows the original 12 watches which were made by 12 companies, Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor and Vertex, although this watch is an earlier model than those which comprise the Dirty Dozen it was the direct predecessor. MWC were not a manufacturer at the time that the original watches of this pattern were made having been founded in 1974 but this watch is very much in the spirit of the originals*The ATP watch which had a cream dial, there were originally 20 variants of these ATPs and they are quite unusual because the Swiss manufacturers at the time sold black dialled watches to the Germans and cream dialled watches to the British.
